AI Consultant in Sydney for Operations Teams

Most AI consultants come from software and learn your operation on the way through. We came from operations. Twenty years of supply chain and logistics, then a full AI rollout led from the inside of a distribution business.

  • Sydney based, on site across NSW
  • We implement, not just advise

T1 Ops in one paragraph

T1 Ops is an AI enablement and implementation consultancy based in Sydney, working with operations led businesses across NSW and nationally. We work with departments to find the bottlenecks, propose the fix, build it, and train the team until it holds. The business is run by working operations people rather than by consultants who specialise in AI in the abstract. ABN 67 711 082 780.

What we do, in the order it usually happens

  • AI training and enablement. We set up AI for your leaders and teams and train them on their own work. The least intrusive place to start.
  • AI Ops Audit. A paid diagnostic across your departments, producing a ranked plan with hours and costs attached.
  • Implementation and automation. The builds: automations, integrations across ERP, ecommerce and 3PL, and reporting that stops being rebuilt by hand. Tested on your data before anything goes live.
  • Managed AI operations. Ongoing support so systems stay current as the tools change, which they do roughly monthly.

Why operations background changes the advice

The failure mode for AI projects in Australian businesses is rarely technical. It is that the workflow chosen was the one easiest to describe in the meeting, that nobody accounted for the product codes not matching between two systems, and that the team went back to the old way in week three because nobody made the new way easier than the habit.

Those are operations problems. Someone who has run allocations, argued a freight claim and closed a month can see them coming. Someone who learned AI first generally cannot, and the project is usually well under way before it becomes obvious.

Who we work with

  • Wholesale and B2B distributors. Hundreds of SKUs, tiered pricing, reps who still email for stock levels.
  • Retail and ecommerce brands. Growing fast, drowning in order syncs, stock mismatches and manual workarounds.
  • Logistics and 3PL operations. Where the freight admin, claims and reconciliation load has outgrown the team.
  • Founders and general managers. Who know AI matters and do not have the hours to work out where it fits.

The work is different enough by sector that we have written it up separately:

How an engagement starts

A fifteen minute discovery call. You describe where the hours go, we tell you whether we can help. If we cannot, we say so on the call rather than sending a proposal. If we can, the next step is either a training session or an audit depending on which fits your situation, quoted at a fixed price before anything begins.

Common questions about working with an AI consultant

What does an AI consultant actually do?

The useful version does three things: works out which parts of your business AI should touch, puts it in place, and makes sure the team still uses it in six months. The less useful version delivers a strategy document and leaves. The difference matters more than any technical credential, because almost every failed AI project we see failed at adoption rather than at the build.

Do you work with businesses outside Sydney?

Yes. Sydney and NSW are on site as standard, which is the practical reason to work with someone local. Interstate is on site for larger engagements or remote for smaller ones, and remote work runs live rather than as recorded material.

What size business do you work with?

Businesses large enough that departments have their own processes, and small enough that the owner or a general manager can still make a decision without a committee. In practice that is roughly twenty to two hundred staff. Below that the answer is usually training rather than implementation. Above it, the constraint becomes internal politics rather than capability, and that is a different job.

What does it cost to work with you?

Engagements are fixed price and agreed before work starts. There is no hourly billing, no lock-in contract and no minimum term. The number depends on scope, which is exactly what the discovery call and the audit exist to establish. We would rather quote something accurate than publish a range that turns out to be wrong for your situation.

How is this different from an AI agency?

Most agencies come from software or marketing and learn your operation on the way through. We come from operations and learned the AI. That shows up in what gets recommended: fewer impressive demos, more attention to the fact that your product codes do not match between two systems, which is the thing that will actually sink the project.

Do you build custom software or use off-the-shelf tools?

Whatever is smallest. If a well-configured tool and a trained team solve it, that is what we do. If it needs a build, we build it. We have no licences to resell and no platform to push, so there is nothing steering the recommendation toward the expensive answer.

How long before we see something working?

For training, the same week. For a first automation, usually weeks rather than months, because we deliberately scope the first project small enough to prove the approach. Anything that needs six months before it produces a result is the wrong first project regardless of how good it is.

What happens if it does not work?

Some things do not, and we would rather find that out in week two on a small scope than in month six on a large one. That is why the first engagement is deliberately narrow. If the audit concludes AI is not worth it in your business, that is a legitimate finding and we will put it in writing.
